3 years ago I began working on opening my own women’s
fashion boutique in Salt Lake City. It was some kind of dream. Not only was it
my dream job, but I had loved and lived in SLC my whole life. It was the
perfect job in the perfect place among all the people and places I love. Along
with a business partner, we opened our doors in March of 2010. My dream came
true! Every day was a new adventure and challenge to make the store successful.
It was a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but I loved it so much it was all worth
it and then some.  It was a perfect
outlet for a lot of creative energy and messiness in my head. I loved it.

Then, 1 year ago, as it often does, life threw some new opportunities
and obstacles. Some choices needed made.
Among trials came yet another surprise. A beautiful surprise, who was
born in February.  We call him Miles. I
sold my share of the boutique, and moved with my adorable husband, baby boy, 2
dogs and a whole lot of clothes a thousand miles away to the Pacific
Northwest.

So, I'm starting over. Living a different kind of dream.
Needless to say, there is quite a contrast between the life
I was living a year ago, and the life I live now.  Last year I was a business owner, basically playing dress up and making pretty displays all day! I was running a successful boutique, traveling to trade
shows and buying markets regularly. Living in my hometown, surrounded by every
familiarity and comfort life can offer.
 Now… a little humbled
and a lot more tired, I live in the lovely Seattle area where everything is
beautiful, but everything is new and unfamiliar.  I am a bit of a fish out of water. I spend
every moment caring for and loving my sweet boy. I feel so privileged to have
the opportunity to stay home and care for him, and I wouldn’t change it for the
world, but it is an adjustment to transition from running a business to running
a baby!
So, this little blog of mine serves a simple purpose. A way
to stay connected to my family and friends and so serve as an outlet and hobby. To share my
thoughts, dreams and passions. I find my head a little crowded and cluttered,
so I am hoping purging it out on my laptop will keep me sane. And if no one
should ever take a peak, that’s OK. It can simply be my therapy.
