Change in the Air...

Well...it's time for a post I've been dreading. 

A few months ago we found out that we are expecting a baby boy in April. We couldn't be happier to be adding a little brother to our family. I have fallen in love with being a mom to a little boy, and can't wait to have another one. It's truly a blessing to be expanding our little family by one. 

But, sometimes with blessings (even really great ones) comes challenges, trials, and big changes. With out going on and on with details, there's been a chance of this pregnancy/delivery being slightly more complicated than with my first. (There's also a chance it won't, and everything will be perfectly perfect!) But I have felt strongly that I need to get my life and home in order and be prepared for all the changes that our little addition may bring. 

I LOVE Gypsy Threads and this online community we have been I have been lucky to be a part of. Truly, it's been so much fun to run the shoppe, but when it comes right down to it, putting my family first is the most important thing. 

So, Gypsy Threads will be closing (hopefully just temporarily) till our little family is all together and settled. It is unknown exactly if and when I will reopen the shoppe, but I do plan to stay connected to this wonderful network of friends online. I will continue the blog and all of our social media accounts. I look forward to sharing more about myself, our life and family here in the PNW as well as sharing some of my favorite small businesses and brands, the way so many others have shared their support and love for Gypsy Threads. 

I am truly grateful to the bloggers and instagrammers who have posted, highlighted and shared their love for my little business. They have made this crazy idea a success, and I truly am grateful to them. 

As for the shoppe...everything has been marked down 40%-75% and will be available to purchase till the end of February when the website is no longer live.

Little Adventures

 Just a little peek at my favorite way to spend time. 

Miles is such a trooper. He loves helping me with my daily tasks, especially vacuuming and trips to the post office to ship GYPSY THREADS orders. He loves Ace Hardware store and he's more fascinated by flora than fauna. He asks me what the names of different plants are, and he likes to water the "suck-you-wents" on the porch. 

He LOVES the Space Needle, and sometimes we take trips down town and just walk around the grounds. We did that just a few weeks ago, munched on grilled corn on the cob, danced to the Guatemalan band that always plays outside, met a creepy spiderman, and then, because it's Seattle, we got caught in the rain.

It was magic.

sunday at the market

 oh how we love visitors!! especially when it's grandpa brent and grandma janny!! grandparent visits are the best, because it means miles gets an endless supply of hugs, kisses, tickles and attention (which he loves) and it usually means that brandon and i get a date!! a rare and sacred occasion, indeed. 

today we went to pikes market complete with crazy seahawks fans, flying fish, mini doughnuts, and giant bread bowls filled with famous clam chowder. we've only lived in washington for 2 years, so i am still very much a tourist. i never tire of going downtown and exploring. we've been to pike place a hundred times, but i still get a kick out of it. i still like to watch the guys throw fish, i'm still willing  to stand in line, in the rain, for chowder. i still like to watch the street performers (especially the guy who plays the guitar, harmonica, tambourine, and sings all while hula hooping!!) i still like to walk down the alley of the gum wall, i am still amazed by the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables and i will never tire of the rows and rows of gorgeous, fresh flower bouquets that only cost $15. seriously!? $15 !??! it's insane.

 i am fully aware that i am a nerd, but i hope i never get bored of it. i hope i always see the charm and wonder of pike place. i hope it stays fun and exciting for as long as i live!! i want to stay blind to the fact that all the food is over priced, and that sometimes the streets smell like weed and urine. i hope we continue to visit the market often and that it stays a big part of our life, here in washington. even if it makes me a tourist and a nerd.

we had a great time, and grandma and grandpa will be terribly missed when they go home tomorrow.

even through the grey, washington is undenyably beautiful in the winter. sometimes, you just have to bundle up, and get outside. especially on a day like yesterday. we love to go to our beach and watch the ferry boats, birds, and the occasional sea lion. it's actually pretty magical.  

happy halloween!

 i know this is late...like...really late. but i've been busy! 

i'm obsessed with MOONRISE KINGDOM. it's probably in my top 5 favorite movies of all time.

 so this year for halloween, miles was "sam." (the toddler version) 

i figured this is my time to dress him up how i want, since by next year he's probably going to want to be spider man or super why or something "big boyish" (sniff sniff) i think i at least get the baby years, right? last year's costume, GARDEN GNOME, is hard to beat. i love that one. but i was pretty happy about this one, and he even left the glasses on for trick or treating! haha! i am kind of addicted to hand making halloween costumes, so i guess i better learn how to sew a cape...because it's probably all super heroes from here...

wednesday market

every Wednesday evening there is a small but sweet farmers market in our neighborhood at the beach park. we like to stop by for some fresh made salsa, delicious homemade donuts and locally grown fruits and veggies. the cherries and peas are unreal!!

I brought my camera last week...but failed to snap any of the food. but I guess food is for eating...not photographing. (try telling that to instagram)

I did however, manage to take about 37 million pics of my baby and my baby daddy. shocking, I know. miles' new favorite obsession is rocks. he examines them very closely before tossing them in the edge of the Puget Sound. (well... he almost makes it!)

he could do this for hours. and I could watch.
