pumpkin patch

oh how i love october. every little thing about it is magical. it starts with the leaves, the crisp air, the pumpkins, the starbucks PSL, the sweaters, the boots... ahhh!! so many good things. autumn is euphoric for me. it's almost impossible, to be anything but happy this time of  year. not to mention, my birthday is october 3rd, and you know i love a little birthday love!! ...although this one was the big 30...so it was bittersweet.

anway...life is good. not perfect, and not without trial, it's good. saturday we headed to snohomish to find a pumpkin patch. trust me, there's no shortage of pumpkins in snohomish washington!! we found a lovely one, and it was magical.

and of course, i must add that i am wearing the Forest Friend Sweater and Vanessa Floppy Wool Hat from GYPSY THREADS

DIY feather necklace // sheena

Ever just feel the need to craft? This feather necklace is both stylish and super easy to make!
SUPPLY LIST:
  • cord necklace
  • feather picks (I bought ones that had a loop already built in….awesome!)
  • jump rings
  • wood beads

Step 1: Start by attaching jump rings to loop in feather picks. The rings allow the feathers to face the right direction when attached to the necklace, so they will face out and lie flat.

Step 2: Remove end loop on cord necklace with needle nose pliers. This will allow you to string everything on. (You will reattach it at the end)
Step 3: String your feathers and beads on. Here is where you can get creative and do whatever looks good to you. I did one wood bead then a feather pick, then two beads, then a feather pick…etc, etc.
Step 4. Reattach end loop to necklace and you’re done!

See...EASY! Enjoy!

just because it's monday

I highly recommend you watch this. it's sure to make your Monday better.

click here. you won't be sorry.

call me stella

lots of exciting things have been happening in these parts...
a few months ago, well I guess more like 2 years ago, I started working on a little project. I had a really hard time leaving my store in Holladay, but at that time, there were more important things to attend to (enter baby and moving out of state etc)

anyway...I love small business too much to give it all up completely, so I started (slowly) dreaming and scheming up some new plans and ideas for an website. an online boutique shopping experience, accessible from your laptop. (a much more mom friendly way to trade)

the beginning of 2013 was mostly consumed by moving into our new house (which I still need to post about) but, things have settled in and life is becoming a little more under control so I have really been making progress on my online shoppe.

things are well on their way and magic is in the works!! thanks to a great team of web designers and an extremely supportive husband,
GYPSY THREADS will be launching sometime near the end of summer!! not giving out too many details just yet...but there will be more tid-bits to come!

so excited!! can't wait to share more! call me stella cause ive got ma groove back.  xoxo

wednesday market

every Wednesday evening there is a small but sweet farmers market in our neighborhood at the beach park. we like to stop by for some fresh made salsa, delicious homemade donuts and locally grown fruits and veggies. the cherries and peas are unreal!!

I brought my camera last week...but failed to snap any of the food. but I guess food is for eating...not photographing. (try telling that to instagram)

I did however, manage to take about 37 million pics of my baby and my baby daddy. shocking, I know. miles' new favorite obsession is rocks. he examines them very closely before tossing them in the edge of the Puget Sound. (well... he almost makes it!)

he could do this for hours. and I could watch.

july 4th

holidays here in Washington are sometimes a little strange and still a little sad. I always get a little homesick. I miss the good old days spending the 4th of july in grandma pat's pool (all day) eating bbq and then heading to sugar house park for fireworks at night. it was so much fun when I was young. so I started the day feeling a little "off" thinking about such fun times years ago when all my cousins were close and life seemed simple.

but...we headed out for a day of exploration to somewhere new in the city we hadn't been before. we went to west seattle, found a hawaiin bbq joint, ate some good pork sandwiches, and then we found ourselves at alki beach. it felt so much like socal I could have sworn we were driving the PCH!!

it ended being a great day. can't wait to go back. I fell in love with west seattle and the view of the city was fantastic.

happy independence day! xoxo
