Happy Holidays from the Pacific Northwest!

It's such an honor to be presenting the 2014 Gypsy Threads Holiday Look-Book, featuring Jaquilyn Shumate and Lotta from Stockholm.

I had the pleasure of styling Jaquilyn for this shoot, while watching her husband Travis photograph her. Don't mistake...miss Jaquilyn is more than just a pretty face...she and Travis both run their photography business together in Tacoma. While Jaquilyn is usually next to Travis, behind the lens at Northwest weddings and portrait sessions, she's a natural for being in front of it! She's a beautiful, talented mother of two, and one of the nicest people I've met.

You'll find all the details of each outfit below, and all orders placed by Thursday December 18th will arrive by Christmas Eve!

Happy Holidays

XOXO

A Little Lotta...

I am so happy to be collaborating with my favorite shoe company LOTTA FROM STOCKHOLM.
I first came across the charming clog shop about 3 years ago (probably on a blog) and when I saw them, I had to have them. I WANT ALL OF THEM.

LOTTA FROM STOCKHOLM is based out of the UK, and miss Lotta herself is in fact, from Stockholm. (makes sense, right?)

These shoes have become my go-to-all-year-long-even-in-the-PNW-rain shoes. I layer them with tights and socks in the cooler months. They are as practical as they are cute. Comfortable and functional has become something I really appreciate in shoes, especially while pregnant (20 weeks!) and chasing a 2 year old around. I have literally walked up and down the (steep) streets of Seattle wearing Lotta's, and they've held up great.

Lotta was kind enough to send me these gorgeous new DARK GREEN T-BAR CLOGS and I'm so in love. For Thanksgiving I'm wearing them with the LORRIE FLORAL MAXI DRESS from the shoppe.  I love this dress. The empire waist makes it easy to move and breathe in (even with a baby bump...or a food bump depending on how successful your holidays are) I love the bright reds and oranges in the pattern as well. It's got kind of a 70's bark cloth vibe, which happens to compliment the clogs to a T (bar). --see what I did there?

The best part about the dress is it's just been marked down, and to top it off...
ALL SALE ITEMS ARE AN ADDITIONAL 20% OFF ALL WEEK + FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING!

Black Friday (well...sort of)

SURPRISE!

Well here comes a confession, from a self proclaimed shopaholic.
I HATE BLACK FRIDAY.

I hate seeing lines or people lined outside big box stores on Thanksgiving nights. I hate hearing stories in the following days about people who were injured, or worse in the stampedes upon the opening doors. I hate the spirit it takes away and the greed it leaves behind. I REALLY HATE BLACK FRIDAY.

I've been on both ends of black friday. I've been the employee working in the mall, I've been the shopper, waiting in line behind barricades at midnight, I've owned a small store, which held a "black friday sale" as well as the online black friday sales...

I hate the thought of any of our customers staring at a screen hoping to snag a treasure rather than looking into the faces of the people they love, cherishing the holiday.

So, this year, GYPSY THREADS is calling it BLACK MONDAY!!

Today & tomorrow only, take 30% off EVERYTHING on the site with discount code:

BLACKMONDAY

Plus, everyone who places an order today, will receive a gift card to use in the month of December.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, have a great week, and remember put down those smart phones long enough to celebrate with the people you love!

XOXO

Brittany

Super Dooper Easy Rice Pudding

Sometimes you just really need a little dessert after dinner...but you didn't make one. (ok- I always want dessert) We seem to make a lot of rice in our house. It's pretty much a staple in our kitchen. I also always seem to make too much. There's always leftovers.
Now when there's an ample supply of leftover cooked rice, I throw it in a pot with some milk, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon and it makes the yummiest, easiest rice pudding. You can eat it warm or chill it in the refrigerator, and the best part is you probably already have all the ingredients you need.

WHAT YOU NEED:

2 CUPS LEFT OVER RICE
3 CUPS MILK (whole milk will taste the creamiest)
3/4 CUP SUGAR
PINCH OF SALT
1 TSP. VANILLA EXTRACT
1/2 TSP. CINNAMON (OPTIONAL)
DASH OF NUTMEG (OPTIONAL)
RAISONS/FRUIT (FOR TOPPING)

WHAT YOU DO:

Combine cooked rice, milk, sugar and salt in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat to a simmer and stir in the vanilla (and raisins if you want them - or you can top the pudding with raisons instead). Cook until just about all the milk is absorbed (20-30 minutes).
Stir in cinnamon and nutmeg, if using.
Divide rice pudding into individual serving dishes. Chill for a few hours, or serve warm.
Top with raisins, fruit, whip cream etc..
Makes 4 - 6 servings

ENJOY!

XOXO BRITTANY
